JEDDAH: Municipalities throughout the Kingdom have ramped up efforts to monitor compliance with the health measures in place to protect the public amid the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic.

The municipality of Jeddah has worked with Saudi authorities to intensify field inspection tours on the waterfront to monitor protocol violations.

Municipality teams have carried out 1,172 inspection tours and found 368 violations. As a result of the inspections, 45 sites were closed.

The municipality has put in place field plans to cover the North Corniche, Saif Beach, Palestine Street Promenade and Central Corniche areas, disinfecting the sites at regular intervals and carrying out sterilization campaigns in seating areas, children’s playgrounds and waste containers.

The authorities have said they will also step up joint field efforts in markets, waterfronts and public facilities to monitor compliance with preventative measures amid a surge in visitor numbers.

Community members are urged to do their part in maintaining public health by reporting any breaches to the 940 call center number or the Balady app.
